Sewage module

The system efficiently discharges settleable solid waste – primarily uneaten feed and fish feces – from the aquaculture pond or tank by leveraging gravity or siphon action. This process centers on a bottom sewage outlet (often a central drain in circular tanks) where denser solids accumulate. Waste-laden water flows from this outlet into a dedicated collection well or settling sump, allowing for initial separation. The concentrated slurry is then conveyed away from the production unit via the sewage pipeline for further treatment or disposal. Regular backwashing of the outlet, well, and pipeline is critical maintenance. Without it, organic buildup rapidly leads to blockages, impairing drainage efficiency, causing localized water quality deterioration (e.g., low oxygen, high ammonia), and increasing the risk of disease outbreaks. This integrated gravity/siphon drainage is fundamental for maintaining optimal hygiene and system stability in intensive aquaculture operations.
