Aerobic Plate

The submerged disc-shaped aerator is a highly efficient device designed to elevate dissolved oxygen (DO) levels within aquaculture systems. Constructed typically from durable, flexible membrane material (like EPDM or silicone) perforated with thousands of microscopic pores, the disc rests on the tank or pond bottom. When pressurized air is supplied through a central manifold, the disc releases a dense cloud of microbubbles (typically <3mm diameter). These fine bubbles have a significantly larger collective surface area and a slower ascent rate compared to larger bubbles generated by other aerators. This maximizes gas-liquid contact time, dramatically improving oxygen transfer efficiency (OTE). The vertical flow pattern created by the rising microbubble plume also promotes crucial water circulation, helping to destratify temperature and dissolved gases while aiding in the suspension and movement of waste particles towards collection points. Their submerged, low-profile design minimizes noise and physical obstruction, making them ideal for tanks with sensitive species. This combination of high oxygenation performance, energy efficiency, and gentle water movement makes disc aerators fundamental for maintaining optimal water quality, supporting high stocking densities, and ensuring fish health and growth in modern intensive and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
